This is the first time Benfica have reached the knockout stages of the Champions League since 2011/12. That season, they were eliminated by eventual winners Chelsea in the quarter-finals.

Paris Saint Germain Vs Chelsea
Paris SG, who finished second in Group A behind Real Madrid, have reached the knockout stages of the Champions League for the fourth consecutive season, their best ever run. They were eventually knocked out in the quarter finals in the last three campaigns.
Chelsea, who qualified top of Group G ahead of Dynamo Kiev, have reached the knockout stages of the Champions League for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
Paris SG and Chelsea are meeting each other in the knockout stages of the Champions League for the third consecutive season. They have so far progressed once each (Chelsea in 2013/14, PSG in 2014/15).

Gent Vs VFL Wolfsburg
Gent and Wolfsburg have qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League for the first time in their history. Gent are also the first Belgian side to reach the latter part of the competition.
Gent finished second in Group H behind Zenit St Petersburg to reach the knockout stages whilst Wolfsburg qualified top of Group B ahead of PSV Eindhoven. This will be Gent and Wolfsburg’s first ever competitive encounter.

Roma Vs Real Madrid
This is the 19th consecutive season in which Real Madrid – who finished top of Group A ahead of Paris SG – have reached the knockout stages of the Champions League, the longest run in the history of the competition. They’ve reached the semi-finals in each of the last five seasons.
Roma have made it to the knockout stages of the Champions League for the first time since 2010/11. They were eliminated by Shakhtar Donetsk in the Last 16.
Roma finished second in Group E behind Barcelona to reach the knockout stages despite picking up only six points and conceding 16 goals (both records for teams that reached the latter stages, the first one being a joint record with Zenit’s 2013/14 team).
